Now may not be a bad time to purchase a home in the Keystone State. Compared to December 2020, Pennsylvania has seen a 7.4% decrease in home sales. In May 2022,, the median home sales price was $211,192.

    History is All Around You

Because of Pennsylvania’s early statehood, there have been many historical moments in the Keystone State.

Residents and visitors can visit the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, the largest city in the state. Here, you’ll also find Independence Hall. This is of course, where the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were first presented.

The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776 at the Gaff House. Years later in 1787, the United States Constitution was created and presented at the US Constitutional Convention in Independence Hall.

Pennsylvania is also a great place for education. Boasting an Ivy League status, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia was America’s first university and was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1740 as a charity school.

Penn State in State College, PA is a top-ranked research university, and is also a great place to catch a football game.

There’s Plenty to Explore in Pennsylvania

The state of Pennsylvania offers many exciting adventures fit for all seasons and hobbies.

If you’re a resident history buff, be sure to visit the original Liberty Bell at Independence National Park in Philadelphia. Its ringing signified an important announcement – the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

And of course, don’t forget to run up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Steps and pretend you’re Rocky Balboa.

For those that enjoy the thrill of roller coasters and water parks, make sure to visit the famous Hershey Park in Hershey, PA. Hershey Park was first created as a leisure ground for the candy-making employees of Hershey’s chocolate factory. Now it serves as a family friendly amusement park themed around their candy treats.

During the wintertime, the Pennsylvania terrain offers perfect weather for hitting the ski slopes. Visitors can ski or snowboard through the Appalachian Mountains, the Poconos, and the Allegheny Mountain ranges.

    Weather in Pennsylvania

    Pennsylvania is a four-season state.

Here, you can expect hot summers and cold, snowy winters.

The Appalachian Mountain Range bisects  the state into its western  and eastern sides. The western side, which includes Pittsburgh, has colder temperatures, and experiences higher amounts of rain and snowfall.

During the summer, the average temperature in Pennsylvania ranges from 75F to 95F, creating perfect days for swimming outside. The winter temperatures bring snow and the occasional break of sunshine, and range from 19F to a high of 45F.

Frequent snowstorms can be quite dangerous to travel through and warrant caution. In the late springtime and early summer months, Pennsylvania receives heavy thunderstorms that can cause flooding in many areas of the state.

Summertime can bring the risk of tornadoes and tropical cyclones. Before making your move to Pennsylvania, be sure to check the weather to ensure safe travel.
